At the front entrance to our hospital we have a bulletin board that displays various themes and announcements throughout the year. It has been used to show photos of the high school students that have been selected for college scholarships, and photos of the Annual Employees Awards Ceremony, including the annual announcement of the MCDH Employee of the Year. In the nearly 5 years that I have been employed by our hospital, I have never seen a display as popular as the one that has been up for the past 2 months. National Pet Week was May 1-7. We invited our employees to post photos of themselves and their pets. During National Pet Week there were a handful of pet owners and their favorite animals. But every week since then several more have been added each week. This bulletin board has staying power like I have never seen before. Our Board demonstrates the strong bond that we have with our pets. They give us unconditional love, and for many of us, a reason to live. If you are lucky enough to have a loving pet at home, be sure to give him or her a big hug every day. You will be rewarded many time over!
