Yesterday was a very exciting day at Mendocino Coast District Hospital. We broke ground for our $8 million Diagnostic Imaging Center. Even though it was a cold and rainy day, the turnout from the community was excellent. It was great to see representatives of our U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson, our State Assemblyman Wes Chesbro and the Mayor of Fort Bragg, Doug Hammerstrom, all in attendance.

Thanks to WineSong! 2009 the Emergency Department at Mendocino Coast District Hospital has a new piece of equipment that will result in faster diagnosis, better decision making by ER doctors and better patient care. The new piece of equipment is a portable ultrasound machine that gives ER physicians a quick and accurate "snapshot" of the heart and other major organs in our patient's bodies.

I believe that we are, indeed, very fortunate to have Mr. Wes Chesbro as our State Assemblyman for our District. Mr. Chesbro has a history of being supportive to, not only our rural hospital but, all rural hospitals in the State of California.
